State Assessments

Beginning in School Year 2021-2022 the State of Arizona will begin administering Arizona’s Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) for English Language Arts and Mathematics. These assessments are aligned to the Arizona Standards. Previous and similar assessments were called AzMERIT and AzM2.  The AzSCI assessment is also administered, this assessment is aligned to the Arizona Science Standards.

Arizona’s Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) is the statewide achievement test for Arizona students in grades 3-8 in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Students in grades 5th and 8th also participate in the Arizona Science Test (AzSCI).

Test Administration

The students of the Laveen Elementary School District are administered both the AASA and AzSCI assessments through a computer-based system. The computer-based portal provides an interactive testing environment with item types that otherwise would not be available. Throughout the school year, students utilize online tools through the continued use of our digital curriculum and computer-based benchmark assessments.
