Superintendent

Jeff SproutDr. Jeffrey Sprout became the Superintendent of the Laveen School District in July 2020.

A career educator, Dr. Sprout has served in Title I, immigrant, and refugee public school communities for almost 30 years in positions ranging from classroom teacher to Assistant Superintendent.

Dr. Sprout  joined Laveen in 2013 as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. In this position he was dedicated to making Laveen a great place to work for all staff  in the areas of recruitment, retention, benefits, and leadership development.

Before joining Laveen, he worked was a teacher, intervention specialist, principal, and Director of STEM Research and Development in the Alhambra District. He served as a school principal for nine years working in an immigrant/refugee community with high poverty. Here, he partnered with the American Dream Academy and the International Rescue Committee to support families. He began his career as a classroom teacher for 10 years, teaching junior high science.

While at Alhambra, he was the recipient of the Excellence in Education teaching award, Rodel Exemplary Principal Award, and, along with his staff, received the A+ School of Excellence Award.

Dr. Sprout received his Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Arizona State University. He earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Science in Bio-engineering, also from ASU.

He has been actively involved in the community, serving in the Laveen Lions Club and has chaired the Laveen Community Parade for five years. He has volunteered many hours in developing the Laveen Education Foundation and has supported the last several bond and override measures.  In his spare time, he is an avid hiker in the South Mountain Park and Preserve.
