Title I Program

Title I Program: Empowering Student Success

Welcome to our Title I Program page, where we are dedicated to providing additional educational support to help all our students reach their fullest potential. The Title I Program is a federally funded initiative under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), aimed at ensuring high academic achievement for all children, particularly those who are at risk of falling behind.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the educational opportunities for children in our elementary schools who need it the most. Through the Title I Program, we ensure that all students have fair, equal, and significant opportunities to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Who We Serve

The Title I Program serves students in our district who have been identified as needing additional academic support to succeed. This includes children from low-income families who are at risk of not meeting the state’s academic standards. Schools with higher percentages of such students receive additional funds to support educational services beyond what is provided through the district’s standard curriculum.

How It Works

Our Title I Program operates through two main service models:

  • Schoolwide Programs: In schools where more than 40% of students come from low-income families, Title I funds support schoolwide improvements to benefit all students. These programs aim to enhance the curriculum, improve school conditions for learning, support teacher development, offer additional academic support to students and engage families and the community in the educational process.
  • District Set-Asides: The district also allocates some funds to support districtwide initiatives. These initiatives include, but are not limited to:
    • Summer School
    • Professional Development
    • Supplemental Curriculum
    • Parent Involvement Initiatives
    • Foster Care resources
    • Homeless Resources

How is the funding received by our district?

Our funding is determined by the number of eligible families, based on their annual income. This information is gathered by completing an Alternative Form for Income Based Eligibility. If students are eligible, this increases the opportunities available at their school!

Parent and Family Engagement

A cornerstone of the Title I Program is the engagement of parents and families in their children’s education. We believe that when families are involved, students achieve at higher levels. We offer various ways for parents to engage, including:

  • Workshops and events to help families support their children’s learning at home.
  • Opportunities to volunteer and participate in school activities.
  • Regular communication on students’ progress and ways to assist with learning at home.

Other Federal Grants

Our department also applies and manages other federal grants that are awarded to the district. Information on these programs becomes available as the program is rolled out.
