Tech

Academics

Committed to providing a quality education and school experience for each student, the Academic Services Department ensures students; through rigorous curriculum, creative teaching strategies, and effective technology; have the tools they need to be successful. Academic Services includes curriculum, assessments, staff development, federal programs, Kids Club, and the Student Services and Technology Departments.

Before & After School Programs

The Laveen Elementary School District offers a before/after school child care program called Kids Club. This program offers carefully planned, well-supervised activities for children in grades kindergarten through sixth. The many opportunities offered through the program are designed to interest your child and to foster his/her emotional well-being and social, physical, and critical thinking skills. Additional care opportunities are also offered during school breaks and early release days.

School Bus

Bus Transportation

All children who live in the Laveen Elementary School District boundaries and reside more than one mile from the school in the attendance area in which they live qualify for bus transportation. Parents who enroll their child in a Laveen school other than the one in their assigned attendance area must provide transportation.

Child Nutrition

The Laveen School District is committed to the success of all Laveen students and to help them achieve their full potential, Child Nutrition Services offers students a variety of nutritional meals. This variety ensures our students get the necessary nutrients associated with good health.

Preschool 1

Developmental Preschool

The Laveen Elementary School District supports the importance of a child’s early years by providing a Preschool Program for children with identified special needs. Laveen Elementary School District’s Preschool program provides early intervention/special education services to 3 to 5 year old children with qualifying developmental delays in the areas of hearing, vision, speech/language, cognitive, social, motor, and/or adaptive behavior. Eligibility is determined through formal assessment procedures. Preschool for children with special needs is provided at no cost to parents. Developmental Preschool is provided on the campus of Laveen Elementary School, 4141 W. McNeil.

 Kindergarten

Free Full Day Kindergarten

All eight Laveen schools offer free full-day kindergarten, providing students a rich academic curriculum that includes English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, and technology.

 gifted

Gifted Education

Laveen’s gifted education program is designed to provide services for students with superior intellect or advanced learning ability who require differentiated educational programs and/or services beyond those normally provided by the regular school program to achieve at levels commensurate with the child’s intellect and ability.  All students scoring at the 95th percentile or above on any one of the three batteries of the Cognitive Abilities Test or on any other appropriate test qualify for placement.

 Intramural

Intramural Sports

All schools in the Laveen Elementary School District participate in the Intramural Sports Program. This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to practice sports-specific skills, learn to play together as a team, and enjoy the thrill of competition in a safe, supervised environment.

Special Education

Special education is available for students found to be eligible for and in need of special education services. Students who are eligible must have one of the following disabilities: autism, emotional disability, hearing impairment, other health impairments, specific learning disability, mild, moderate or severe mental retardation, multiple disabilities, multiple disabilities with severe sensory impairment, orthopedic impairment, preschool moderate delay, preschool severe delay, preschool speech/language delay, speech/language impairment, traumatic brain injury, or visual impairment.
