Governing Board Signs Resolution Urging State Legislature to Override Aggregate Expenditure Limit

On Wednesday, February 9, Laveen’s Governing Board unanimously approved a resolution urging the Arizona State Legislature to immediately pass a resolution that singularly, with no other stipulations, overrides the Aggregate Expenditure Limit for the Fiscal Year 2022, and that the Arizona Legislature approves and the Governor signs a new law that provides a permanent solution to the Aggregate Expenditure Limit issue.

Laveen School is an A+ School of Excellence

Congratulations to Laveen School for being named a 2022 A+ School of Excellence by the Arizona Educational Foundation!

The A+ School of Excellence program is a comprehensive school assessment program that celebrates outstanding public schools. Schools complete an extensive application which is then followed by site visits by members of the AEF. The A+ School of Excellence™ designation is valid for a three-and-a-half-year period.

Laveen School joins Vista del Sur Accelerated Academy, Rogers Ranch School, M.C. Cash School, and Trailside Point Performing Arts Academy in receiving this prestigious award.

Representatives from the Arizona Educational Foundation will present the school with an official banner.

Paseo Pointe Receives Golden Bell Promise Award

Paseo Pointe School is the recipient of the 2021 Golden Bell Promise Award for its Dual Language Spanish Immersion Program.

The prestigious Golden Bell recognizes educational initiatives that have a proven record of achieving excellence. It is awarded annually by the Arizona School Boards Association. The school will be formally recognized at a December statewide conference.

Paseo Pointe is the second Laveen school to receive this award. Laveen Elementary School was honored with the Golden Bell in 2018 for its Mindfulness program.

Laveen Community Remembers M.C. Cash Principal Lisa Sandomir

Sandomir RodelLongtime M.C. Cash principal, Ms. Lisa Sandomir passed away on Wednesday, October 27 as a result of injuries due to a car accident on Tuesday afternoon.

Ms. Sandomir has been the beloved principal of M.C. Cash for sixteen years, an amazingly gifted leader and caretaker of her students, staff, the Cash community, and her fellow administrators.  She has been recognized throughout the district and state, including receiving Arizona’s highest honor for principals as well as M.C. Cash being named as an A+ School of Excellence under her leadership.  She was known throughout the community for her love and devotion to providing a positive Kids at Hope learning environment for children.

To support our students and staff, our entire counseling and psychology teams will be on campus in the days ahead to provide support, including walk-in counseling.

District administration is in contact with Ms. Sandomir’s family and we will keep the community informed of services and other plans to honor her legacy.

“As Governing Board members, we want to express our heartfelt sympathy for the loss of Lisa Sandomir, Principal of M.C. Cash School.  For so many years we have watched her lead the Cash Community with excellence.  Her love and generosity will be carried forward in the thousands of people she impacted.

Thanks to all of our community members who have reached out to express their condolences.  We know that the Laveen community will do what it always does:  support each other in challenging times.

A community gathering to honor the life and work of Ms. Sandomir will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the M.C. Cash School courtyard.

  • Add to the memorial fence

Refreshments will be provided. This is an open house event.

District Technology Coach Named North America Google Trainer of the Month

Laveen District Technology Coach J.D. Williams has been named October’s North America Google Trainer of the Month by Google for Education.

Williams provides provide professional development and support for all teachers, helping them integrate technology and Google tools into their instruction. He also assists with the Parent Help Desk, assisting families troubleshoot Chromebook issues and navigate online curriculum.

There are over 6,000 Google Certified Trainers world-wide.

The Google Certified Trainer of the month is chosen by Google for Education staff from nominations that are put in by other Google Certified Trainers. They have chosen one Trainer from North American and one international Trainer each month since January 2020.
