Laveen School District COVID Data Dashboard
The safety and well-being of Laveen students and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic is our top priority. We continue to base decisions regarding the safety of on-site learning on public health data as shared by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. We believe that our families should also have access to this very important data and have developed this dashboard to provide weekly information related to COVID-19 cases in our schools and the broader community.
We are providing a summary of confirmed COVID-19 cases by school. The numbers in the table below represent confirmed COVID-19 cases that have been reported to MCDPH and Laveen Schools since August 2. Any person (student or staff member) who tests positive for COVID-19 must be excluded from the facility until they have completed the isolation period outlined in the MCDPH Home Isolation Guidance. Once the isolation period is completed, and the individual returns to school, it will be considered recovered and moved to the last column. This information will be updated at least weekly.

If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, all persons that have been “close contact” with the positive individual will be notified by the Laveen School District. A “close contact” is defined by the Centers for Disease Control as a person being within six feet for a continual ten to fifteen-minute duration. Any student considered to be in close contact with the positive individual is required to quarantine for five (5) days from exposure date, followed by wearing a mask for the next five (5) calendar days while at school regardless if they have previously opted-out, per MCDPH guidance. If the student develops symptoms during the quarantine period, then they must be tested before returning to school.
Close Contact Exception: In the K–12 indoor classroom setting, the close contact definition excludes students who were within 3 to 6 feet of an infected student (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) where – both students were engaged in the consistent and correct use of well-fitting masks; and – other K–12 school prevention strategies (such as universal and correct mask use, physical distancing, increased ventilation) were in place in the K–12 school setting. Fully vaccinated students do not need to quarantine if they are a close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19 (per CDC guidance).
All students and staff will be notified when a positive case occurs at their school. HIPAA guidelines prohibit the Laveen School District and MCDPH from personally identifying those who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Transition to Virtual Learning Guidelines
All decisions to transition to virtual learning are made by the COVID Response Team in consultation with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.
