Celebrating Innovation at the LESD Robotics Hackathon

On March 6, 2025, the Laveen Elementary School District came alive with innovation and excitement as students put their STEM, coding, and robotics skills to the test at the LESD Robotics Hackathon! Held at the Laveen Education Center, the event brought together eight talented teams from across the district, all eager to showcase their problem-solving abilities and creativity.

The energy in the room was electric as teams worked collaboratively to design, build, and program their robots, tackling four unique challenges:

The Maze – Navigating obstacles with precision
Checkpoints – Strategically reaching designated locations
Capture and Carry – Transporting objects efficiently
Solo Cup Grab – Mastering fine motor control with robotic arms

We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated. Their dedication, teamwork, and ingenuity were truly inspiring! Events like these highlight the importance of STEM and computer science education, demonstrating the boundless potential of our students.

While the competition was fierce, a few teams emerged victorious:

1st Place: Paseo Pointe
2nd Place (Tie): Rogers Ranch & M.C. Cash
3rd Place: Laveen

A huge thank you goes out to the team coaches, staff, and judges who helped make this event a success. Your support and guidance are instrumental in fostering a passion for STEM in our students.

The LESD Robotics Hackathon is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and the bright future ahead for our young engineers. We can’t wait to see what next year’s event will bring!
